University of Chennai cancels exam results of 117 candidates
In an online exam held in December 2020, 117 people were caught passing the exam by claiming that they were students in distance education.
The Distance Education Directorate of the University of Chennai had announced that Aryans from 1980-1981 could take the online exam as a special opportunity.
Accordingly, it came to light that many people who did not apply to join the distance education course had illegally participated in the online examination held in December 2020 and wrote the examination.
The university administration, which examined the semester fees and examination fees of 117 students before issuing their certificates, canceled the certificates of 117 students due to non-availability of their names.
The university alleges that those who run distance education centers have fraudulently tried to obtain certificates by accepting bribes of up to Rs 3 lakh. Chennai University Vice-Chancellor Gauri has ordered the formation of an inquiry committee to probe whether many others have written the exam illegally.
